E-Discovery Service Providers (Vendors)
Both law firms and corporate legal departments rely heavily on service bureau/vendors regardless of how self-sufficient they may be.
In the event of a trial, the integrity of collected forensic evidence may come into question. The service bureau/vendors are the least likely to have any vested interest in the outcomes of these litigations and are therefore considered unbiased subject matter experts.
Their services are 3-fold: (a) To perform the mundane and tedious raw data processing, (b) to electronically host the post-processed raw data, and in some cases (c) to develop customized data processing/reviewing/analytics software thus empowering the law firms and corporate legal departments to process, review, and search this data on their own.
